The View From Here

Lyrics

You keep looking at the road ahead, counting everything you haven't done
Like the miles already underneath you, don't matter till you finally won
You remember every door that closed
Every time you had to start again
But somehow you forget the part
Where you got back up and took another step
Maybe you're not finished
Maybe there's still somewhere else to go
But before you take another step
There's something you should know
Look at the view from here
Look how far you've come
You climbed a damn mountain
Don't you dare call that nothing
Maybe you're not where you're going
But you're nowhere near where you began
You don't need a finish line
To be proud of where you stand
So breathe it in, turn around
You've earned this moment now
Look at the view from here
You made it this far somehow
You survived the days you swore
Would finally be the ones that broke you
You carried things nobody saw and kept going when nobody told you to.
You built something out a little, made a way when there was none.
And every tiny step you questioned became the road that brought you up.
There'll always be another dream, another hill beyond the one you ride.
But you don't have to reach tomorrow
To be proud of what you've done
Look at the view from here
Look how far you've come
You climbed a damn mountain
Don't you dare call that nothing
Maybe you're not where you're going
But you're nowhere near where you began
You don't need a finish line
To be proud of where you stand
So breathe it in, turn around
You've earned this moment now
Look at the view from here
You made it this far
Somehow
You don't have to be the richest
You don't have to be the best
You don't need the whole world cheering to know you gave it everything you had left
And if all you see is distance, if the top still feels too far
Turn around, look beneath you, look at where you are
Look at the view from here
Look how far you've come
You climbed a damn mountain
And you're still looking up
That's the thing about a dreamer
There's always something more ahead
But don't let where you're going
Make you forget the ground you've left
So breathe it in, take it in
Let yourself be proud
Somehow you don't have to reach the end
You're allowed to celebrate right now
There'll be time for the next mountain
But tonight, look at the view
