Moonlight Up (v2)

Lyrics

I ride on stone with a rusted nail Your name goes up through the coffin rail
My boots hold fast where the dead drift free While silver rain climbs away from me
One iron antler cuts the blue I steal this last word and send it to you
I throw the moonlight up, up, up Like a ladder from a broken cup
It strikes the sky that falls its way My goodbye is a weightless race
I throw the moonlight up to you Before the dark can pull me through
The gates of its flow down the leading spire Cold beams gather like threads of wire
I press your photograph under my coat Its pale little sun still keeps me afloat
If you hear the stones begin to drum Know I was calling before I'd come
I lift the moonlight up, up, up No shattered seal, no empty cup
Put your hands beyond the blue And bend its weight to carry you
I lift the moonlight up to stay My last message turns into day
