Paint Won’t Hold Us (v1)

Lyrics

They stick, they stick
They sketched our face at the corner store
Wet paint breathing through the concrete floor
Tap on the ledge, gold chain in the rain
The artist stepped back, then we moved in the frame
Bar by bar, our mouth found sound
Pressure climbed when the sirens came around
Old name cracking in the weather coat
We tore through the outline and took the whole road
Paint won't hold us, say it loud
Paint won't hold us, shake the crowd
From the mural wall, we walk into the storm
And make the whole district sing our name
We hit the avenue with color on our hands
Spray mist rising like a front across the land
Billboards blink as our verses collide
Repainted backup dancer steps outside
The landlord says freeze, the thunder says go
We leave old portraits under pressure but low
No more pose for the past, the frame we tack tomorrow
Over yesterday's name
Paint can't hold us, say it loud
Paint can't hold us, move the crowd
From brick to sky, we become the weather
And every living wall releases us together
Thanks for watching!
